Matthew A. Laick

Matthew and his wife, Gladys, entered the financial services industry in 1987. They grew the business known as The Matthew A. Laick Company, and later founded The SecondHalf Coach, Inc. In 2008 they sold the business to their son-in-law, William J. Urbanik. Although semi-retired, Matthew continued to serve on The SecondHalf Coach Board of Directors until his passing in April of 2009.

Before his work at The SecondHalf Coach, Matt earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh. He continuously furthered his education with numerous classes at Pennsylvania State University and went on to receive his Master of Science degree in Financial Planning from The College for Financial Planning. Following his schooling, he met the stringent requirements to become a Registered Financial Consultant, and was a Financial Planner and Investment Advisor Representative of The SecondHalf Coach. He obtained Series 7, 24, 53, 63, and 65 securities registrations and was licensed as an independent insurance agent.

Outside of our office, he served on The National Education Committee and Management Advisory Council for SagePoint Financial, Inc. and on the board of The Salvation Army in Greensburg. In his free time he enjoyed exercising, especially with our Bike for Life group, and spending time with his family and friends.

We are forever grateful to the many years of dedication he gave to The SecondHalf Coach and powerful bonds he formed with many of our clients.

Gladys N. Laick

Gladys cofounded The SecondHalf Coach with her husband Matthew, working side by side from 1987 until they sold the practice in 2008. During this time she also served as President and Chief Operations Officer for The SecondHalf Coach. Gladys was a Notary Public, independent insurance agent, Registered Assistant with SagePoint Financial and held Series 6 and 63 securities registrations.

For years, Gladys was “the glue” that kept our office running smoothly; her contributions cannot be measured, but are always remembered since her retirement in 2009.

Mary Smith

Mary played a major role in helping establish the relationships her son-in-law, Tony Slezak, has with his clients today. She worked alongside him for many years, until her retirement in June of 2011. During her final years with the office, Mary was able to take the Latrobe office “paperless” – an initiative she completed on her final day of work.

Her dedication and loyalty to both Tony and our business were remarkable, and we hope our staff continues the great example she set.
